Washington located in Walla Walla county and just
southeast of the city of Walla Walla
is a thriving community offering award winning wineries, outdoor recreation and
mild, temperate weather.
Home to about 10,000 people
College Place blends right into Walla Walla and is a
wonderful place to call home. Also home to the Walla Walla University which is a
seventh-day Adventist college. Many of the residents are Adventist as well and
this allows for many shops to be closed on Saturdays but reopen on Sunday.
Nestled in the foothills of
the Blue Mountains, College Place offers an oasis in Eastern
Washington unlike any other. Founded in 1892 although not incorporated until
1945, College Place was first the site of the Walla Walla
College since changed to University. As the college grew so did the
need for more city officials and establishments.
Place is known for it's art, exceptional wines, cultural events and the
Lewis and Clark trail and Whitman mission. With the Blue Mountains, the Columbia
River and Snake River all within throwing distance of College
Place the amount of opportunities for outdoor entertainment are
endless. Take an afternoon in the winter and snowboard or ski down the mountain,
enjoy a swim or fishing in the rivers in the summer and don't forget our great
local wines that bring folks from all over.
With the recent addition to
major stores such as Wal-Mart, Home Depot and the Meadowbrook Plaza,
College Place keeps it's small town feel but independence in
the highest regard.
